Wake Forest University

Wake Forest is a medium Sized Liberal Arts College with 5,000 undergraduates; 20% are from N Carolina and 10% are international students. Students declare a major after sophomore year but can take potential major courses right away if interested. Undergraduate research highly encouraged across all subjects and students can do their own research and are encouraged to be published. Undergraduate School of Business is the only “college” that is separate. Entry to business school happens after sophomore year and students take 5 business courses to prepare for entry. It has 75% acceptance rate (current Wake students) with a minimum 2.9 GPA. Faculty mentors help with recommendations, internship suggestions. Professors take an interest and spend time with students outside the classroom setting and are flexible to meet.

The freshman dorm community is adjacent to academic buildings and the library and a free shuttle system takes students to downtown Winston-Salem.

Wake is a test- optional school and consider grades and curriculum rigor to be more important. 1/3 of students do not submit scores. The Optional Interview is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and is offered on campus or via Skype June 1st-early Decembers. Interview slots fill up quickly so register very early. An interview is needed to be eligible for scholarships. Interview write up is the first thing they read when reviewing applications. Fun fact: Wake is the 3rd smallest D1 school in the US and basketball is huge there!
