Lewis and Clark College
Lewis and Clark’s total enrollment is 2,087, with 77% receiving grants, scholarships, and award money. Most students qualify for $15,000- $29,000 in merit aid. As a test-optional school, those who do not submit test scores are required to submit 2 teachers of recommendation and 2 pieces of graded course work-- ie. a writing sample and a quantitative piece from a math or science class. Test-optional students are still considered for merit. Students are environmentally oriented and passionate about social justice and the outdoors. While there is no Greek life on campus, 90% of the student body participates in at least one college outdoors trip as they offer 100+ trips per year that are 1-7 days long. As a D3 college, 16% are student-athletes. Electrical outlets are located at the base of the trees, so many students opt to study outside. Students have close mentorship relationships with their professors and are one a first name basis. 63% of students study abroad, and all are required to complete global coursework. The majority of students are accepted Early Action, with 40-50 accepted Early Decision, and fewer Regular Decision. For fun, students take the bus to the southeast part of Portland that has hip restaurants and coffee hangouts.
